deep roots… new shoots
The Soper family’s roots run deep in the Emmetsburg community, going back five generations, and with our New Shoots Bakery Café and Farm Store, and vegetable and livestock farms, we are firmly committed to the three pillars of sustainability — working for a healthy local community, economy and environment.
For a healthy local community — We offer a beautiful and welcoming place to gather, share stories with friends and break bread together, nourishing both body and spirit. We serve our community the freshest, local food possible — from our farms to your fork.
For a healthy local economy — We invest in Emmetsburg and the North- west Iowa region, providing nearly 40 new jobs, here at our New Shoots Bakery Café and Farm Store, on our 100-acre vegetable farm, and our 160-acre grass fed beef and pasture-raised chicken farm. We support other local businesses, utilizing locally grown and produced products and services whenever possible.
For a healthy local environment — We run our New Shoots buildings on a green energy infrastructure, using recycled furniture and lumber, and recy- cling all our cans and bottles at Horizon’s Unlimited. The cattle bedding and excess forage from our farms is recycled back into new energy and compost. Our farms grow only organic and natural foods; we use no chemicals, anti- biotics or growth hormones, and treat our livestock humanely.
Our Soper family farms have deep roots in Emmetsburg and from those deep roots spring these New Shoots.
From our entire family, thanks for stopping by and sharing in our vision of a healthy local community, economy, and environment.
